We all accept that global warming is a massive problem. We all know that burning coal is a huge producer of carbon emmissions. Why are we letting the Government get away with promoting an emmissions trading scheme which is only a money-making rort designed to prop up the bottom line of the coalburners? their wealthy shareholders should bear the pain. Not struggling Australians. Let’s all shout together NO ETS
Emissions Trading Scheme has two sides to it. I believe we should all be taking responsibility for our own pollution (http://www.ozrecycle.com) but I also believe that the countries that are not developed should be given assitance by those that are more advanced. This creates a more balanced world for all of us to live in and care for.
Most ET schemes are influenced by corporations and are not in the interest of the planet or humankind. This was pointed out in the book ‘Corporations – Is Your Boss A Schycopath’. Directors and managers of companies must by law make decisions based on the benefit of it’s shareholders and not the environment. Until this is changed then there can be no real progress with the decrease in CO2 emissions. It is in the hands of the shareholders to tell the corporation that they wish to pursue an ‘environmentally friendly attitude’ and there are not many shareholders who will do this due to financial loss. What they do not realise is that money is not worth anything when you are dead.
I would have to agree that the ET schemes are flawed because they are not do not address the issues of the major polluting countries of the world. Why should they be permitted to continue the level of pollution they emit?
It seems as though there is a rule for one and a rule for the other.
